Welcome to Staines.
Created in year 43 by the Romans. Mentioned in the Domesday Book in
1086. The barons met here before going out to meet King John to sign
the Magna Carta in 1215. The town has links with Thomas More, Lord
Lucan, several Kings and Queens, Christine Keeler, Sir Thomas Knyvett
(the man who arrested Guy Fawkes) and, much-much more importantly, Ali
G.
Staines town is famous for a plane crash, a lino factory, a brewery, a
racing car and a rock band.....
Is it a deserted chav-infested bungalow town stuck rudely between a
couple of massive reservoirs and a motorway turn off?
Or is it something more? Only you can decide...

Into
The Hoods- A Modern Fairytale
Music
from Gorillaz, Basement Jaxx, Kanye West and others
After
two succesful years at the
Edinburgh Fringe in 2006 and 2007, ZooNation
brings Into the Hoods, its urban take on Sondheim's Into the Woods to
the West End.
This
energetic show puts an urban spin on Stephen
Sondheim and James Lapine’s darkly humorous musical Into The
Woods and
sets it to a soundtrack of music by artists including Gorillaz,
Basement Jaxx, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Black Eyes Peas and The
Chemical Brothers.
The story
follows two children who are lost in
the hood. An evil landlord befriends them after they have played truant
from school and they are offered a room in his tenement block on the
condition they work for him.
Reluctantly
the children embark on their mission,
which leads them to the flats occupied by Spinderella, where they
discover gold Adidas trainers, Lil Red, the owner of a bright red
hoodie, Rap-on-Zel, the producer of the finest quality long weave in
the city and Jaxx (who lives in the basement), the owner of a white I
pod.
'The scenes are cut
together sharply, MTV style, so that they always leave you wanting
more, and the music - old skool, R&B, Motown - offers a witty
counterpoint to the action.'
Luke Jennings, Observer, 2006
